Calculated fields

Create new fields with formulas.

📖 Key ideas

  1. Create calculated fields: Profit Ratio = SUM([Profit]) / SUM([Sales]).
  2. IF / CASE logic: IF [Sales] > 10000 THEN "High" ELSE "Low" END.
  3. String functions: UPPER, LEFT, CONTAINS; date functions: DATEDIFF, DATETRUNC.
  4. Aggregate vs row-level calculations behave differently.
  5. Parameters let users change values in calculations.
💡 Real-life example: Calculated fields are new columns written with a formula, like Excel formulas but for the whole view.
Calculated fieldNew field from a formula
ParameterUser-controlled value
DATEDIFFDifference between dates
Row-level calcComputed per data row
