Objects, fields and records

Understand Salesforce data structure.

📖 Key ideas

  1. Objects are like tables: Account, Contact, Lead, Opportunity, Case.
  2. Fields are columns: text, number, picklist, date, formula.
  3. Records are rows of data.
  4. Standard objects come built-in; custom objects end with __c.
  5. Schema Builder shows objects visually.
💡 Real-life example: Objects are cupboards, fields are labelled shelves, records are the items placed inside.
