Memory management

Allocate memory to processes efficiently.

📖 Key ideas

  1. The OS allocates and protects memory for each process.
  2. Contiguous allocation causes fragmentation.
  3. Paging splits memory into fixed-size pages and frames.
  4. Segmentation divides memory by logical segments.
  5. The MMU translates logical to physical addresses.
💡 Real-life example: Paging is a parking lot with numbered equal slots; any car (page) can park in any free slot (frame).
