Security, backup and Atlas

Run MongoDB safely in production.

📖 Key ideas

  1. Enable authentication and use role-based access.
  2. Restrict network access (IP allowlist, VPC).
  3. Encrypt in transit (TLS) and at rest.
  4. Back up regularly: Atlas backups, mongodump.
  5. Monitor slow queries and set alerts.
💡 Real-life example: Securing MongoDB is locking the godown, listing who has keys, and keeping a copy of the stock list elsewhere.
