Pods and Deployments

Run your app with pods, ReplicaSets and Deployments.

📖 Key ideas

  1. A pod is the smallest unit: one or more containers sharing network/storage.
  2. Pods are temporary; don't create them directly in production.
  3. A Deployment manages ReplicaSets that keep N pod replicas running.
  4. Rolling updates replace pods gradually.
  5. kubectl apply -f deployment.yaml creates or updates resources.
💡 Real-life example: A Deployment is a manager keeping exactly N workers on shift, replacing anyone who leaves.
PodSmallest deployable unit
ReplicaSetKeeps a number of pod copies
DeploymentManages ReplicaSets and updates
Rolling updateGradual replacement of pods
