Why GraphQL?

GraphQL lets clients ask for exactly the data they need in one request.

📖 Key ideas

  1. GraphQL is a query language for APIs, created by Facebook (2015).
  2. One endpoint (/graphql) serves all queries.
  3. Clients choose fields, avoiding over-fetching and under-fetching.
  4. A typed schema describes what data is available.
  5. Used by GitHub, Shopify and many mobile apps.
💡 Real-life example: GraphQL is a buffet where you fill your plate with exactly what you want, instead of a fixed thali.
