Docker in the real world

Containers power CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes and cloud deployments.

📖 Key ideas

  1. CI pipelines build an image on every push, test it and push it to a registry.
  2. The same image moves from testing to production unchanged.
  3. Kubernetes runs and scales containers across many machines.
  4. Cloud services like Cloud Run, AWS ECS and Azure Container Apps run containers without managing servers.
  5. Monitor containers with logs, metrics and health checks.
💡 Real-life example: A shipping container travels by ship, train and truck without being repacked; a Docker image travels from laptop to cloud the same way.
