Types of machine learning

Supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning.

📖 Key ideas

  1. Supervised: learn from labelled examples (spam/not spam).
  2. Unsupervised: find structure in unlabelled data (customer groups).
  3. Reinforcement: learn by rewards and penalties (games, robots).
  4. Semi-supervised and self-supervised use few labels.
  5. Choose by data available and goal.
💡 Real-life example: Supervised learning is a teacher marking answers; unsupervised is sorting toys without labels; reinforcement is training a dog with treats.
