Check before you trust

AI sounds equally sure when it is right and when it is making things up.

AI writes what sounds likely, and that is not always what is true. It can invent a function that does not exist, a package name, a setting or a reference, and describe it in a calm, confident voice.

How to check

  • For a function or setting, open the official documentation.
  • For a package, look at who publishes it, its source code and how widely it is used.
  • For a fact, find a source you can read yourself.
  • For code, run it. Running it is the strongest check.

Asking the same AI "are you sure?" is not a check. It may agree with itself, or change a right answer to a wrong one just because you doubted it.

Be most careful with money, passwords, logins, personal data, and anything you are about to install or run.
