Abstract
Smart Irrigation System is an open-source Internet of Things (IoT) project. Description Smart- irrigation system (SIS) targets Egypt's water crisis by redefining the irrigation tools and technologies used in Egypt. For over 7000 years, Egyptians have relied on agriculture as their main source of food, and for many families, it is their main source of income. As the country developed, agriculture became one of the largest industries in Egypt and one of the most profitable. Key capabilities include: Web server with Django; Android Mobile App; Machine Learning model with Tensorflow. The complete source code is publicly available on GitHub under the MIT License, making it a useful reference for students building an Internet of Things (IoT) mini project or final-year project.
1. Introduction
For over 7000 years, Egyptians have relied on agriculture as their main source of food, and for many families, it is their main source of income. As the country developed, agriculture became one of the largest industries in Egypt and one of the most profitable.
Most Egyptians settled close to the Nile River to have a constant stream of water from which they can drink, and water their fields. Agriculture is also useful in many other industries, such as clothes and dairy products among other things.
Egypt is facing a monumental natural disaster in the near future primarily due to the declining levels of the Nile as well as the reduced frequency of rainfall in recent history. That, combined with Egypt’s shrinking agricultural land and arid weather, will result in a countrywide drought that may lead to loss of life if left unaddressed.
2. Objective
Description Smart- irrigation system (SIS) targets Egypt's water crisis by redefining the irrigation tools and technologies used in Egypt.
This project demonstrates how modern tools can be applied to a real-world Internet of Things (IoT) problem.

7. Future Enhancements
Suggested extensions you can add to make this your own project.
- Add a mobile dashboard using Blynk or Firebase
- Store readings in a cloud database for history charts
- Add alerts via SMS / Telegram when thresholds are crossed
8. Viva / Review Questions
Common questions examiners ask for projects in this domain.
- Which microcontroller / board and sensors are used and why?
- How does the device send data (Wi-Fi, MQTT, HTTP, Bluetooth)?
- Where is the sensor data stored and visualised?
- How is power consumption managed?
- How would you secure the device and its communication?
