Abstract
Argent is an open-source Mobile App Development project. An agentic toolkit to control, debug, and profile iOS and Android apps. Made by Software Mansion. Ask your assistant _"What can Argent do?"_ to list every tool. It is built using TypeScript, React Native, Android. Key capabilities include: Interact - tap, swipe, gesture, type, hardware buttons; D-pad on TV; mouse and keyboard on desktop; Flows - record a path once, replay it deterministically as a repro or smoke test; Visual regression - diff a baseline against a live capture, OCR- and font-aware. The complete source code is publicly available on GitHub under the Apache License 2.0, making it a useful reference for students building a Mobile App Development mini project or final-year project.
1. Introduction
Ask your assistant _"What can Argent do?"_ to list every tool.
Telemetry is opt-out: argent telemetry disable. See the Privacy Notice.
2. Objective
An agentic toolkit to control, debug, and profile iOS and Android apps. Made by Software Mansion.
This project demonstrates how TypeScript, React Native, Android can be applied to a real-world Mobile App Development problem.
3. Key Features / Modules
- Interact - tap, swipe, gesture, type, hardware buttons; D-pad on TV; mouse and keyboard on desktop.
- Flows - record a path once, replay it deterministically as a repro or smoke test.
- Visual regression - diff a baseline against a live capture, OCR- and font-aware.
- Profiling - Hermes, React DevTools, Xcode Instruments, Perfetto: renders, CPU hotspots, hangs.
- Debugging - logs, network (fetch and native), JS evaluation, native and React trees.
- React Native - build, launch and iterate, no extra setup.

8. Viva / Review Questions
Common questions examiners ask for projects in this domain.
- Which framework is used and why (native vs cross-platform)?
- How is app state managed across screens?
- Where is the data stored — locally, Firebase or a REST backend?
- How are permissions (camera, location, storage) handled?
- How would you publish this app to the Play Store / App Store?
