Abstract
Terraform AWS Examples is an open-source Blockchain & Cloud Computing project. Terraform examples on AWS (Amazon Web Services). How to manage AWS resources with Terraform. Terraform is used to create, manage, and update infrastructure resources such as physical machines, VMs, network switches, containers, and more. Almost any infrastructure type can be represented as a resource in Terraform. It is built using HCL, Terraform, AWS. The complete source code is publicly available on GitHub under the MIT License, making it a useful reference for students building a Blockchain & Cloud Computing mini project or final-year project.
1. Introduction
Terraform is used to create, manage, and update infrastructure resources such as physical machines, VMs, network switches, containers, and more. Almost any infrastructure type can be represented as a resource in Terraform.
These examples are based in the book Terraform: Up and Running by Yevgeniy Brikman.
The code consists of Terraform examples using HashiCorp Configuration Language (HCL) on AWS (Amazon Web Services).
2. Objective
Terraform examples on AWS (Amazon Web Services). How to manage AWS resources with Terraform.
This project demonstrates how HCL, Terraform, AWS can be applied to a real-world Blockchain & Cloud Computing problem.
4. Technology Stack
5. System Requirements
General requirements for this technology stack — check the README for exact versions.
- Terraform CLI
- Cloud provider account (e.g. AWS) with CLI configured
- Git (to clone the repository)
6. Installation & Setup
git clone https://github.com/alfonsof/terraform-aws-examples.git
cd terraform-aws-examples- 01-hello-world - Terraform "Hello, World": Example of how to deploy a single server on AWS (Amazon Web Services) using the shortest script.
- 02-one-server - Terraform One Server: Example of how deploy a single server on AWS (Amazon Web Services).
- 03-one-webserver - Terraform Web Server: Example of how deploy a single web server on AWS (Amazon Web Services). The web server returns "Hello, World" for the URL / listening on port 8080.
- 06-create-s3 - Terraform Create S3: Example of how deploy the creation of a S3 bucket on AWS (Amazon Web Services).
- 07-terraform-state - Terraform State: Example of how to store the information about what infrastructure has been created on AWS (Amazon Web Services).
- 08-file-layout-example - Terraform File Layout: Example that contains a File Layout example of a Terraform file on AWS (Amazon Web Services).
- 11-loops-example - Terraform Loops: Example that contains the loops example of a Terraform file on AWS (Amazon Web Services).
- 12-if-statements-example - Terraform If-Statements & If-Else-Statements: Example that contains an If-Statements and If-Else-Statements example of a Terraform file on AWS (Amazon Web Services).
Full setup instructions are in the project README.
7. Future Enhancements
Suggested extensions you can add to make this your own project.
- Add a CI/CD pipeline with GitHub Actions
- Deploy to a public test network or cloud free tier
- Add monitoring and cost alerts
8. Viva / Review Questions
Common questions examiners ask for projects in this domain.
- Why does this problem need a blockchain or cloud-native design?
- Explain the smart contract / infrastructure components and how they interact.
- How are gas costs or cloud costs kept under control?
- How is the system secured (keys, IAM, access control)?
- How would the solution scale to many more users?
