Abstract

Celo Composer is an open-source Blockchain & Cloud Computing project. Celo-composer is a starter project with all code needed to build, deploy, and upgrade a dapps on Celo. A powerful CLI tool for generating customizable Celo blockchain starter kits with modern monorepo architecture. It is built using TypeScript, Angular, Flutter, React, React Native. Key capabilities include: Modern Stack: Next.js (14+ in the base templates, 15 in ai-chat), TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui; Monorepo Ready: Turborepo with PNPM workspaces; Beautiful UI: shadcn/ui components copied in (button, card, sheet) — add more with the shadcn CLI after running npx shadcn init. The complete source code is publicly available on GitHub under the MIT License, making it a useful reference for students building a Blockchain & Cloud Computing mini project or final-year project.

1. Introduction

A powerful CLI tool for generating customizable Celo blockchain starter kits with modern monorepo architecture.

2. Objective

celo-composer is a starter project with all code needed to build, deploy, and upgrade a dapps on Celo.

This project demonstrates how TypeScript, Angular, Flutter can be applied to a real-world Blockchain & Cloud Computing problem.

3. Key Features / Modules

  • Modern Stack: Next.js (14+ in the base templates, 15 in ai-chat), TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui
  • Monorepo Ready: Turborepo with PNPM workspaces
  • Beautiful UI: shadcn/ui components copied in (button, card, sheet) — add more with the shadcn CLI after running npx shadcn init
  • Developer Experience: Interactive prompts and clear feedback
  • Celo Optimized: Ready for Celo blockchain development
  • Multiple Templates: Choose from Basic Web App, Farcaster Miniapp, Minipay, AI Chat, or x402 Paid API templates
  • Flexible Integrations: Add wallet providers (RainbowKit, Thirdweb) and smart contract frameworks (Hardhat, Foundry)

4. Technology Stack

TypeScriptAngularFlutterReactReact NativeWeb3
  • Hardhat (default): Popular Ethereum development environment
  • Foundry: Fast, portable and modular toolkit for Ethereum application development
  • None: Skip smart contract development setup
  • Next.js 14+ with App Router
  • TypeScript
  • Tailwind CSS
  • shadcn/ui components
  • Turborepo for monorepo management

5. System Requirements

General requirements for this technology stack — check the README for exact versions.

  • Node.js (LTS) and npm / yarn / pnpm
  • VS Code or any code editor
  • Git (to clone the repository)

6. Installation & Setup

git clone https://github.com/celo-org/celo-composer.git
cd celo-composer
npx @celo/celo-composer@latest create
npx @celo/celo-composer@latest create my-celo-app --yes

Full setup instructions are in the project README.

7. Future Enhancements

Suggested extensions you can add to make this your own project.

  • Add a CI/CD pipeline with GitHub Actions
  • Deploy to a public test network or cloud free tier
  • Add monitoring and cost alerts

8. Viva / Review Questions

Common questions examiners ask for projects in this domain.

  1. Why does this problem need a blockchain or cloud-native design?
  2. Explain the smart contract / infrastructure components and how they interact.
  3. How are gas costs or cloud costs kept under control?
  4. How is the system secured (keys, IAM, access control)?
  5. How would the solution scale to many more users?

9. Source Code & License
