Abstract
Augur Core is an open-source Blockchain & Cloud Computing project. Augur v1 - Smart Contracts [DEPRECATED]. Smart contracts for Augur, a decentralized prediction market platform on the Ethereum blockchain. It is built using TypeScript, Ethereum, Solidity. The complete source code is publicly available on GitHub under the GNU General Public License v3.0, making it a useful reference for students building a Blockchain & Cloud Computing mini project or final-year project.
1. Introduction
Smart contracts for Augur, a decentralized prediction market platform on the Ethereum blockchain.
2. Objective
Augur v1 - Smart Contracts [DEPRECATED]
This project demonstrates how TypeScript, Ethereum, Solidity can be applied to a real-world Blockchain & Cloud Computing problem.
4. Technology Stack
5. System Requirements
General requirements for this technology stack — check the README for exact versions.
- Node.js (LTS) and npm / yarn / pnpm
- VS Code or any code editor
- Node.js and npm
- Hardhat / Truffle / Remix IDE
- MetaMask wallet with a test network
- Git (to clone the repository)
6. Installation & Setup
git clone https://github.com/AugurProject/augur-core.git
cd augur-core- Parity HTTP RPC will be available on localhost port 47622.
- Geth HTTP RPC will be available on localhost port 47624.
- An abundant supply of ETH is available using the private key 0xfae42052f82bed612a724fec3632f325f377120592c75bb78adfcceae6470c5a.
- The log output will let you know what the address of the various Augur contracts are.
- Main Code
- source/libraries/ContractCompiler.ts - All logic for compiling contracts, generating ABI
- source/libraries/ContractDeployer.ts - All logic for uploading, initializing, and whitelisting contracts, generating addresses and block number outputs.
- Configuration
docker-compose -f source/support/test/integration/docker-compose-[geth/parity].yml up --build --force-recreatenpm install npx
npm install
pip install -r requirements.txtFull setup instructions are in the project README.
7. Future Enhancements
Suggested extensions you can add to make this your own project.
- Add a CI/CD pipeline with GitHub Actions
- Deploy to a public test network or cloud free tier
- Add monitoring and cost alerts
8. Viva / Review Questions
Common questions examiners ask for projects in this domain.
- Why does this problem need a blockchain or cloud-native design?
- Explain the smart contract / infrastructure components and how they interact.
- How are gas costs or cloud costs kept under control?
- How is the system secured (keys, IAM, access control)?
- How would the solution scale to many more users?
9. Source Code & License
This project is developed by AugurProject and published on GitHub under the GNU General Public License v3.0. Please follow the license terms and credit the original author when you use or modify this code.
