Abstract
Vscode Terraform Live Graph is an open-source Blockchain & Cloud Computing project. The Terraform Live Graph Extension for Visual Studio Code is a plugin that allows you to generate a live Terraform graph as you code. The Terraform Graph Extension for Visual Studio Code is a plugin that allows you to generate a live Terraform graph as you code. This extension makes it easy to visualize your infrastructure and the relationships between resources, helping you to understand how your infrastructure is configured. It is built using TypeScript, AWS, Terraform. The complete source code is publicly available on GitHub under the MIT License, making it a useful reference for students building a Blockchain & Cloud Computing mini project or final-year project.
1. Introduction
The Terraform Graph Extension for Visual Studio Code is a plugin that allows you to generate a live Terraform graph as you code. This extension makes it easy to visualize your infrastructure and the relationships between resources, helping you to understand how your infrastructure is configured.
2. Objective
The Terraform Live Graph Extension for Visual Studio Code is a plugin that allows you to generate a live Terraform graph as you code.
This project demonstrates how TypeScript, AWS, Terraform can be applied to a real-world Blockchain & Cloud Computing problem.
4. Technology Stack
5. System Requirements
General requirements for this technology stack — check the README for exact versions.
- Node.js (LTS) and npm / yarn / pnpm
- VS Code or any code editor
- Git (to clone the repository)
6. Installation & Setup
git clone https://github.com/adamiBs/vscode-terraform-live-graph.git
cd vscode-terraform-live-graph- Open Visual Studio Code.
- Click on the Extensions icon on the left-hand side of the screen (Ctrl+Shift+X).
- Search for "Terraform Live Graph" and click "Install".
- Restart Visual Studio Code.
- Open a Terraform file in Visual Studio Code
- Activate the extension by selecting "Terraform Graph View" from the Command Palette (CMD+Shift+p/Ctrl+Shift+p or F1 opens the Command Palette).
- A live graph of your Terraform code will appear on the right-hand side of the screen
- As you write your Terraform code, the graph will update in real-time to reflect your changes
Full setup instructions are in the project README.
7. Future Enhancements
Suggested extensions you can add to make this your own project.
- Add a CI/CD pipeline with GitHub Actions
- Deploy to a public test network or cloud free tier
- Add monitoring and cost alerts
8. Viva / Review Questions
Common questions examiners ask for projects in this domain.
- Why does this problem need a blockchain or cloud-native design?
- Explain the smart contract / infrastructure components and how they interact.
- How are gas costs or cloud costs kept under control?
- How is the system secured (keys, IAM, access control)?
- How would the solution scale to many more users?
9. Source Code & License
