Abstract
Argonaut is an open-source Blockchain & Cloud Computing project. Keyboard-first terminal UI for Argo CD. Browse apps, scope by clusters/namespaces/projects, stream live resource status, trigger syncs, inspect diffs, and roll back safely — all without leaving your terminal. Argonaut is a keyboard-first terminal UI for Argo CD, built with Bubbletea. Browse apps, scope by clusters/namespaces/projects, stream live resource status, trigger syncs, inspect diffs in your favorite pager, and roll back safely — all without leaving your terminal. It is built using Go. Key capabilities include: Instant app browsing with live updates (NDJSON streams); Scoped navigation: clusters → namespaces → projects → apps; Command palette (:) for actions: sync, diff, rollback, resources, etc. The complete source code is publicly available on GitHub under the GNU General Public License v3.0, making it a useful reference for students building a Blockchain & Cloud Computing mini project or final-year project.
1. Introduction
2. Objective
Keyboard-first terminal UI for Argo CD. Browse apps, scope by clusters/namespaces/projects, stream live resource status, trigger syncs, inspect diffs, and roll back safely — all without leaving your terminal.
This project demonstrates how Go can be applied to a real-world Blockchain & Cloud Computing problem.
3. Key Features / Modules
- Instant app browsing with live updates (NDJSON streams)
- Scoped navigation: clusters → namespaces → projects → apps
- Command palette (:) for actions: sync, diff, rollback, resources, etc.
- Live resources view per app with health & sync status
- Events & sync status pane beside the resource tree — Kubernetes events and the last sync operation for whatever row you're on, auto-refreshing
- External diff integration: prefers delta, falls back to git --no-index diff | less
- Guided rollback with revision metadata and progress streaming
- Execute actions on resources — dynamically discovered per resource, including Argo Rollouts and any custom-defined actions
- Keyboard-only workflow with Vim-like navigation
4. Technology Stack
5. System Requirements
General requirements for this technology stack — check the README for exact versions.
- Go 1.20 or later
- Git (to clone the repository)
6. Installation & Setup
git clone https://github.com/darksworm/argonaut.git
cd argonautcurl -sSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/darksworm/argonaut/main/install.sh | shcurl -sSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/darksworm/argonaut/main/install.sh | sh -s -- v1.13.0brew tap darksworm/homebrew-tap
brew install darksworm/tap/argonautyay -S argonaut-binFull setup instructions are in the project README.
7. Future Enhancements
Suggested extensions you can add to make this your own project.
- Add a CI/CD pipeline with GitHub Actions
- Deploy to a public test network or cloud free tier
- Add monitoring and cost alerts
8. Viva / Review Questions
Common questions examiners ask for projects in this domain.
- Why does this problem need a blockchain or cloud-native design?
- Explain the smart contract / infrastructure components and how they interact.
- How are gas costs or cloud costs kept under control?
- How is the system secured (keys, IAM, access control)?
- How would the solution scale to many more users?
9. Source Code & License
This project is developed by darksworm and published on GitHub under the GNU General Public License v3.0. Please follow the license terms and credit the original author when you use or modify this code.
