Abstract
Amazon ECS Fullstack App Terraform is an open-source Blockchain & Cloud Computing project. Fullstack app using Amazon ECS & DevOps methodologies (IaC with Terraform and CI/CD with AWS CodePipeline). It is built using HCL, Terraform. The complete source code is publicly available on GitHub under the MIT No Attribution, making it a useful reference for students building a Blockchain & Cloud Computing mini project or final-year project.
1. Introduction
Fullstack app using Amazon ECS & DevOps methodologies (IaC with Terraform and CI/CD with AWS CodePipeline)
2. Objective
Fullstack app using Amazon ECS & DevOps methodologies (IaC with Terraform and CI/CD with AWS CodePipeline)
This project demonstrates how HCL, Terraform can be applied to a real-world Blockchain & Cloud Computing problem.
4. Technology Stack
5. System Requirements
General requirements for this technology stack — check the README for exact versions.
- Terraform CLI
- Cloud provider account (e.g. AWS) with CLI configured
- Git (to clone the repository)
6. Installation & Setup
git clone https://github.com/aws-samples/amazon-ecs-fullstack-app-terraform.git
cd amazon-ecs-fullstack-app-terraform- aws_profile = according to the profiles name in ~/.aws/credentials
- aws_region = the AWS region in which you want to create the resources
- environment_name = a unique name used for concatenation to give place to the resources names
- github_token = your GitHub token, the one generated a few steps above
- repository_name = your GitHub repository name
- repository_owner = the owner of the GitHub repository used
cd Infrastructure/terraform initterraform plan -var aws_profile="your-profile" -var aws_region="your-region" -var environment_name="your-env" -var github_token="your-personal-token" -var repository_name="your-github-repository" -var repository_owner="the-github-repository-owner"terraform plan -var aws_profile="development" -var aws_region="eu-central-1" -var environment_name="developmentenv" -var github_token="your-personal-token" -var repository_name="your-github-repository" -var repository_owner="the-github-repository-owner"Full setup instructions are in the project README.
7. Future Enhancements
Suggested extensions you can add to make this your own project.
- Add a CI/CD pipeline with GitHub Actions
- Deploy to a public test network or cloud free tier
- Add monitoring and cost alerts
8. Viva / Review Questions
Common questions examiners ask for projects in this domain.
- Why does this problem need a blockchain or cloud-native design?
- Explain the smart contract / infrastructure components and how they interact.
- How are gas costs or cloud costs kept under control?
- How is the system secured (keys, IAM, access control)?
- How would the solution scale to many more users?
9. Source Code & License
